Welcome

I am a figurative painter whose primary compositions are in oil on canvas. These, however, develop from charcoal, pastel and ink drawings on paper which are also an important part of my work.

Anatomical drawing has been a much loved past-time for the majority of my life but it has been within the last five years that these sketches have developed into large scale, commercial works of art. I studied a 2 year Art Foundation programme at Yeovil College, Somerset and maintain the technique of drawing the human body at a number of life-drawing classes in the South West.

Recently, my work was featured in a group exhibition as part of Somerset Arts Week and I am currently planning a solo exhibition in the South West region.

My style, technique and ideas are constantly developing. I am greatly influenced by bodily shapes and forms in dance and movement. Recently I produced a series of paintings with a distinct circus theme. The compositions are taken from studies of circus performances and dancers drawn in-situ, subsequently developed into my own style using bold colour and texture. I draw inspiration from artists such as Egon Schiele, Paula Rego, Matisse and Duncan Grant.
